Giving

Make an Impact

When you make a gift to the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering, you provide the opportunities and resources for our faculty and students to pursue cutting-edge research, support our educational mission and help us create an unmatched student experience.

“The scholarships I received at UT represented motivation, validation and celebration. Each year, I was motivated to pursue the highest levels of academic excellence. I worked hard for any scholarship I earned and they served as validation that my efforts were worthwhile and recognized. The financial assistance was cause for celebration for myself and my family. I am incredibly grateful for the generosity exhibited by the donors and their families, and I hope that they know their contributions played a direct role in helping me achieve my academic and professional aspirations.”

Felix Luongoformer Texas ChE student

By investing in the department, you are supporting the next generation of chemical engineers and fostering an atmosphere for excellence and discovery. Make your impact felt today and help us change the world tomorrow.

make a gift

Whether you are making your annual gift, creating an endowment or simply wishing to make a generous donation to the department, the following are ways you can make your gift:

  • Online – Access the convenience of secure online giving through the university’s giving page. Be sure to choose Chemical Engineering in the search box.
  • Checks sent via U.S. Mail –  All checks in support of the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering should be made payable to The University of Texas at Austin, and in the memo line, a department reference is required.
    • For example, please note “McKetta Dept. of ChE” or “chemical engineering” in the memo line. Checks should be mailed to Dean Clement at the address shown below:

All checks and documentation should be mailed to:
The University of Texas at Austin
      Attn: Dean Clement
      301 East Dean Keeton Street
      Austin, TX 78712-0287

      Telephone: 512-471-0469
      Fax: 512-471-3995
  • Matching Gifts – Alumni and friends can maximize the impact of their giving to the department through employer matching gift programs. Most matches are dollar-for-dollar (1:1), effectively doubling – or in some cases tripling – the value of donors’ gifts. Some companies match the gifts of retirees and spouses as well as those of active employees.
  • Stock Transfer – A gift of appreciated stock is an excellent way to support the department, simultaneously avoiding capital gains tax and taking a charitable deduction. To ensure proper processing, donors should alert Michael Barasch in the Cockrell School at (512) 471-0469 to request transfer instructions.
  • Wire Transfer – Wire transfers are most commonly used with gifts made from outside the United States or for large gifts within the U.S.  To ensure proper gift credit of the gift, donors should contact a Michael Barasch in the Cockrell School at (512) 471-0469 to request transfer instructions.
  • UT Faculty and Staff Payroll Deduction – Are you a University employee?  If so, you can support the department through payroll deduction.

Honor A Professor

Since 1915, when Eugene Schoch started the Department of Chemical Engineering, it has been the professors who have defined the excellence of this program. Over the last nine decades, chemical engineering students have been educated by the brightest minds in the industry, and our professors rank among the legends of chemical engineering. If there was a professor in your life who made a difference, please consider designating your philanthropy to support one of these endowments.

If you don’t see your professor’s name, please contact Kirsten Smith, Associate Director of Development, at 512-669-9987 or kirsten.smith@austin.utexas.edu for information on how to get an endowment like this started in honor of your favorite mentor or advisor.
